The last couple of weeks have been brutal reading the Book of Mormon war chapters; Gospel Doctrine reading assignment 30 & 31, a total of 22 chapters.
The stratagem of Moroni really shines through in defense of his people.
Be patient and forge through your reading assignment, chapter by chapter- build a "reading stratagem".
Highlight these cited words: scourge, secure, defend, fortify, and strengthen.
Just as the writings apply to war, they can be applied to life's battlefront.
Like this applied verse, from the Old Testament: Exodus 17:8-12- Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim. So Moses said to Joshua, "Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand". So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put if under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Add the word "steady" to the cited words.
But I love this battle moment: Alma 51:34...And it came to pass that Teancum stole privily into the tent of the king, and put a javelin to his heart; and he did cause the death of the king immediately that he did awake his servants.
This part of the Book of Mormon causes me to reflect how am I fortifying my family and home from the wiles of the devil. Shall we not be like General Moroni and be be vigilant and build up fortifications around our family and home to protect us from the worldly influences that are becoming so prevalent in our society today. We no longer can keep one foot in Zion and the other foot in Babylon. Let us firmly put both feet in Zion and help lift up and support righteous.
