Surprises

Certainly some pleasant surprises in life can catch you off guard. But when they happen they are wonderful encounters. The laughter, joy, happiness and smiles are well worth it.  Children are full of them, and adults should every once in a while consider doing them more often. It produces spontaneous thought, and quick, active, positive interaction.

Surprises can be found in reading stories.  Little children love to hear them when found in a good picture book being read. Consider reading one this holiday season.

When days are not going well scripture stories work well. And if you need a little humility read and ponder a story. Like this one, the Nativity, Luke 2:8–16.

"Can any soul read this and not be touched with the spirit of humility and be impressed with the simple truth of the story?" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, Chapter 25: The Birth of Jesus Christ: “Good Tidings of Great Joy”)
